Question

Is reading novels with romance in it sinful

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

A human being tends to act on whatever is in his/her heart and mind. The contents of such literature may lead one to think illicit and practice illicit actions. It is clear that such literature pollutes the mind, promotes immodesty and adultery. Such literature is thus death to spirituality.

Hence, it is not permissible to read romance novels.
