Does mahr have to be announced in the khuṭbah?
Question
Salam Mufti saheb. Does the Imam have to announce the amount of mahr I will pay to my fiancé in the kutba?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is not necessary to announce the mahr during the khuṭbah. The nikāḥ will be valid.
