Mother unable to stand for complete duration of Taraweeh
Question
I hope Mufti saab is well. I have a question regarding my mother. Last year we prayed Taraweeh at home. We will probably pray Taraweeh at home this year too. My mother has diabetes and high blood pressure. She starts Taraweeh standing tries to perform normally. But midway through she gets exhausted. We take long breaks but she is still unable to perform standing (due to exhaustion) so she ends up sitting and praying. She feels really guilty about it. Does she have to pray standing or will it be permissible for her to pray sitting?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Brother in Islam,
Your mother’s determination to perform her Taraweeh Salah standing is a sign of her Imaan and piety. May Allah Ta’ala accept her Ibadah and give her Shifaa from her sickness.
In the enquired situation, it will be permissible for you mother to perform the Taraweeh Salah seated if she experiences exhaustion and fatigue.[1]

اتَّفَقُوا عَلَى أَنَّ أَدَاءَ التَّرَاوِيحِ قَاعِدًا لَا يُسْتَحَبُّ بِغَيْرِ عُذْرٍ وَاخْتَلَفُوا فِي الْجَوَازِ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: يَجُوزُ وَهُوَ الصَّحِيحُ إلَّا أَنَّ ثَوَابَهُ يَكُونُ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْقَائِمِ فَإِنْ صَلَّى الْإِمَامُ التَّرَاوِيحَ قَاعِدًا بِعُذْرٍ أَوْ بِغَيْرِ عُذْرٍ وَاقْتَدَى بِهِ قَوْمٌ قِيَامٌ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: يَصِحُّ عِنْدَ الْكُلِّ وَهُوَ الصَّحِيحُ. وَإِذَا صَحَّ اقْتِدَاءُ الْقَائِمِ بِالْقَاعِدِ اخْتَلَفُوا فِيمَا يُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْقَوْمِ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: الْمُسْتَحَبُّ أَنْ يَقْعُدُوا احْتِرَازًا عَنْ صُورَةِ الْمُخَالَفَةِ، كَذَا فِي فَتَاوَى قَاضِي خَانْ فِي فَصْلِ أَدَاءِ التَّرَاوِيحِ قَاعِدًا

وقال قاضي خان في اداء التراويح قاعدا اتفقوا علي انه لايستحب بغير غذر واختلفوا في الجواز, قال بعضهم لا يجوز بغير غذر ...وقال بعضهم : يجوز له أداء التراويح قاعدا بغير عذر...وهو الصحيح إلا ان ثوابه يكون علي النصف من صلاة القائم ...وفي الخلاصة:اما صلاة التراويح قاعدا من غير عذر اختلف المشائخ فيه والأصح أنه يجوز
