Is it sunnah to wash both hands before eating?
Question
Is it sunnah to wash both hands or just one hand before eating? Many people just wash one hand or few fingers.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.
It is a sunnah to wash both hand before eating. The sunnah will not be fulfilled by washing one hand or a few fingers only. Therefore, one should wash both hands in order to make ‘amal on the sunnah.[i]

قال نجم الأئمة البخاري وغيره غسل اليد الواحدة أو أصابع اليدين لا يكفي لسنة غسل اليدين قبل الطعام؛ لأن المذكور غسل اليدين وذلك إلى الرسغ، كذا في القنية
