I suffer from Polydactyly. Will it be permissible for me to remove the extra finger?

Question

I suffer from Polydactyly. Will it be permissible for me to remove the extra finger?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

Polydactyly is a condition where a person is born with extra fingers or toes on one or both of their hands and feet[i]. It is permissible for you to undergo corrective surgery in order to remove the extra limb.[ii]
