Tawbah from being a Porn Actor

Question

Salam Alaykum Mufti Saheb,

Please answer this question. Sincere request

This is a question regarding forgiveness of Allah SWT for major sin. I was born muslim and always prayed. But I have also had a very haram profession of adult film (pornography) actor. I have repented but the evidence for my sin is public. The production companies refuse to delete the films where I have performed zina. And some of my videos were seen by millions of people.

Do I need to be given the hudud punishment? I fear that after I die, the people will still watch my videos and my sins will increase because other people continue to watch it. Please advise me dear Mufti.

I am a young man and have repented but i am extremely scared of the hellfire.

is there guarantee that I can still go to Jannah without being punished first?

Or will Allah put me to hell first because my sin is done openly and available online forever.

Please tell me how I can go directly to Jannah without being sent to the fire for purification.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected Brother,

It pleases us to hear of your decision to abandon your previous life of sin. Mankind by nature is prone to sin. Our beloved prophet, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,

Translation: “Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, every son of Adam (Alaihis Salaam) commits sins, and the best of sinners are those who repent.”

Respected Brother,

A believer will only go into Jahannum if he departed this world without repenting for his sins. If he repented from his sins, then he will not be taken to task on the day of Judgment, no matter how great the sin was. Even if one’s sins are greater than the foam of the ocean, if one turns to Almighty Allah in repentance, Almighty Allah will forgive him. His doors are always open to those who knock.

True Tawbah (repentance) requires 4 things:

1.     Abandon the sin completely.

2.     Be remorseful over the sin.

3.     Make a firm resolution not to return to the sin.

4.     If the sin is related to the rights of people, those rights should be fulfilled.

If one fulfils these conditions of Tawbah, then he is forgiven. It is as though he did not commit those sins to begin with. Almighty Allah is the Most Merciful, the Most Kind, we expect nothing but compassion and forgiveness from Him.

You state that you have made sincere Tawbah and have even tried to get those videos off the internet. However, this was not possible. You fulfilled what was in your capacity and Almighty Allah will not ask you for anything beyond that. Your Tawbah will be accepted Insha'Allah.

One of the signs of being forgiven is that the person changes his life. He reforms himself and is more Allah conscious. Alhamdulillah, your concern for your Aakhirah is in itself a great sign of your Allah consciousness.

We make dua Almighty Allah keep you steadfast on Iman, and make you a means of guidance for others. Aameen.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
