Aqeeqah meat portion distribution

What is the ruling for the akika as to:
1. when does it need to be done by?
2. what are the portion distributions?
3. and can you keep some as well?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
1. Aqeeqah is Mustahab and refers to a sacrificial slaughter on the seventh day following the birth of a child. It is two sheep/goats for a male and one sheep/goat for a female.
The day the child was born will be considered for Aqeeqah. For example, if your child was born on Saturday, the seventh day will be the following Friday.
If one is unable to perform the Aqeeqah on the 7th day, then it can be done on the 14th, 21st, 28th or any day in multiples of 7 thereafter.[1]
2. One may do what he wills with the Aqeeqah meat.[2] However, it is desirable to divide the Aqeeqah meat (cooked or raw) into three portions. A portion for oneself, a portion for feeding relatives, and a portion to give as Sadaqah.[3]

عقیقہ کا گوشت خود بھی کھا سکتے ہیں اور دوسروں کو پکا کر کھلا بھی سکتے ہیں اور کچا گوشت دوسروں کو دے بھی سکتے ہیں، دایی وغیرہ کوٹانگ دینی ہی چاہیے، یہ کوئی واجب نہیں ہے جتنا چاہیے دے سکتے ہیں
