We are expecting twin girls, could you please kindly advise us on what to name them?

Question

We are expecting twin girls, could you please kindly advise us on what to name them?

Jazakallahu khairan

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has ordered us to keep good names. The name of a person has an effect on his traits and characteristics. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has mentioned:

Translation: Whoever is graced with a child, he should give him a beautiful name and beautify his characters

Furthermore, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) stated:

Translation: Surely you will be called on the Day of Judgment according to your names and your fathers' names.  Therefore, beautify your names.

We advise that you name your daughters after the wives, daughters, and Sahabiyaat (female Sahabah) of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), such as Kadijah, Aisha, Hafsa, Zainab, Fatima, Umm Kulthum, etc.[1]
