Is surrogacy permissible?

Question

Im just asking this question for my own knowledge. A woman who cant have kids, can she have a surrogate?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The practice of surrogacy or the involvement of a third person in reproduction is not permissible.[1] Alternatively, one may consider adoption. That is indeed a virtuous deed.
