Question

Is it permissible to plants the marigold plant? I heard that these plants are used as hindu symbols

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

Marigold plants are beautiful and have many health benefits such as:[1]

  • Lowering inflammation
  • Reducing eye inflammation and conjunctivitis.
  • Serves as an antiseptic.
  • Heals Skin Wounds, Burns and Rashes.
  • Helps Reduce Haemorrhoid Pain.
  • Eases Cramps and Spasms. ...
  • Repels insects etc.

Accordingly, it is permissible to plant the marigold plants to enjoy the beauty and health benefits of Marigold plants.

The Hindus' use of the Marigold plants as a symbol does not render the Marigold plant as prohibited for Muslims.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
