Can a divorcee speak to her ex-husband?
Question
Can a woman of final divorce talk to her former husband to discuss financial and other important matters whilst in iddat?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, once the husband has issued an irrevocable divorce, the relation between the husband and wife will be similar to that of any other non-Mahram. Therefore, it will not be permissible for them to interact with one another.
If there is a need to speak with the husband about some important matter, then the divorcee should do so through a Mahram.
