Ethanol in eye liner - Is this permissible?
Question
Assalaaamu alaikum
In order to make eye liner or kajal at home. we need to use 10% of ethanol. Is that permissible??

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is not permissible to use cosmetics that contain alcohol from grapes or date extracts. Such cosmetics are impure.
If the alcohol is derived from a source other than grapes and dates, then it will not be impure. However, one should rather prefer using cosmetics that are labelled as 'alcohol-free', especially when such cosmetics are easily available.
