Is it permissible to use Vodacom Talking Points to purchase additional airtime etc.?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

According to the Vodacom website, “Talking Points is a simple rewards programme for our Prepaid customers.

You earn points every time you recharge with R10 or more. Earn 1 point for every R10 you spend.

You can then redeem your points for great rewards. Like free cellphones, tablets, data and SMS bundles.”^[i]

For this reason, the talking points will be regarded as a gift from Vodacom. Hence, it will be permissible to use the talking points to purchase additional airtime.
