Fidya for consecutive 3 Ramadan missed Fast

Question

Asalamu alaekum Mufti Sahb.

Please there's a lady who has missed three Ramadhan consecutively. The reason is that all the years was either in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

She was pregnant in the 1st Ramadhan, (She becomes weak during pregnancy) she breastfed in the interval year, and became pregnant again before the next Ramadhan. The same sequence repeated in the following year.

She said she can this coming Ramadhan insha Allah, but the previous ones are too much for her. She has even started to pay them off, which may last her for the next four months.

Now what must she do? Jazak'Allahu Khaera

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The Qadha fasts of Ramadhan must be kept. Fidya is offered only if one is unable to fast at all, for example, one has a fatal sickness etc.[i].

We understand that fasting 3 months Qadha is difficult; therefore, the Qadha fasts do not have to be kept consecutively.

The woman in reference should adopt a system that she can manage.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best
