Fatwa #443426 April 2002South Africa

My 2 questions concerns the method of performing salaat. I am a Hanafi. Please read the details.

Question

Question 1) When getting up from the second rakaat, should you rise WITHOUT placing your hand on the ground. I have noticed that many people place hand on ground and then get up. Question 2) In the last rakaat, you raise your finger and drop during Tashahud, forming a ring with the thumb and middle finger. I don't know when to break this ring (before or after salaam). Jazakallahu-khair, Your brother in Islam.

Answer

1. One should rise without placing a hand on the ground, except in case of
inability or an excuse e.g. sickness etc. (Tahtaawi Pg. 284 Qadimi)
2. One shoul keep the ring formed until the end of the Salaah. (Fataawa
Mahmoodiyyah Vol.13 Pg. 72)
