Name Query – Nehad, Nuhan and Nushad - Are these appropriate names?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

May Allah make your child the coolness of your eyes and a means of reward for you in this world and the hereafter. Aameen.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said:

إِنَّكُمْ تُدْعَوْنَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِأَسْمَائِكُمْ وَأَسْمَاءِ آبَائِكُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا أَسْمَاءَكُمْ (سنن أبي داوُد 4950)

"On the Day of Resurrection you will be called by your names and by your father's names, so give yourselves good names.” (Sunan Abu Dawood : 4950)

The three names you enquire about are not suitable.

Hereunder are names that are similar to the enquired names.

“Nihaad” - A protruding rock. ^[1]

“Nowhan” – To be elevated.         ^[2]

“Nishaad” – To seek assistance.        ^[3]

We advise you to keep names of Sahabah and pious people that will have a positive impact on the life of your child.

Instead of the names you enquired about, we suggest the following.

Nizaam (نِظَام) instead of Nehad. Nizaam refers to system, order etc.^[4]

Nooh  (نُوح)instead of Nuhan. Nooh was the name of a great Nabi who had fled from Fitnah (mischief).

Yusha’  (يُوْشَع)instead of Nushad. Yusha’ was the name of a Nabi who was courageous and led his people against the tyrants of the time.
