What happens when a Masbūq makes Salāam by mistake?
Question
Salaam. If I come late for prayer and give salam with the imām by mistake and the realize and stand right away. Do I have to make sajdah sahw?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
If a masbūq mistakenly makes salām with the Imam he is not required to make sajdah al-sahw. However, if a masbūq makes salām after the Imam has completed his salām, the masbūq will be required to do sajdah al-sahw after completing his remaining rakʿats.[i]

وهل يلزمه سجود السهو لأجل سلامه؟ ينظر إن سلم قبل تسليم الإمام أو سلما معا لا يلزمه؛ لأن سهوه سهو المقتدي، وسهو المقتدي متعطل، وإن سلم بعد تسليم الإمام لزمه؛ لأن سهوه سهو المنفرد فيقضي ما فاته ثم يسجد للسهو في آخر صلاته

المسبوق بركعة إذا سلم مع الإمام ساهياً لا يلزمه سجود السهو؛ لأنه مقتد بعد، وإن سلم بعد الإمام كان عليه السهو؛ لأنه صار منفردا

(قوله وإلا لا) أي وإن سلم معه أو قبله لا يلزمه لأنه مقتد في هاتين الحالتين
