The effect of a Mother’s Dua
Question
Asalamualaikum, I’ve heard that whenever a mother says something the angels say Ameen to it, so if a mother says something negative I’m sure the angels also say Ameen? So will Allah grant that dua even though it’s negative and can be harmful to our future?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We have not come across any narration that states that angels say Ameen to whatever the mother says.
However, parents are advised not to curse their children. This is understood from the following narration:
Translation: "Do not make Dua against yourself or against your children or against your wealth lest you should happen to do it at a moment when the Duas are accepted, and your prayer might be accepted.”
We should also understand that Allah is Al-Adil. He only accepts whoever is just and fair. If one unjustly curses another, that is not accepted. Children should also be careful not to hurt the feelings and emotions of their parents and get the wrath of their curses.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
