Watching Islamic videos on Dajjal - I dont know why i am having these feelings, What do i do?
Question
Salam aleykum, I am a muslim and I pray 5 times a day and I listen to quran translation everyday around 30 minutes. I have seen a few islamic videos on youtube about dajjal and I don't know why but I am drawn to it, like I like to meet it. (I say it because I don't want to give it a personality). I don't know why I have these feelings. Please advice. Thanks
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Respected brother,
It gives us great pleasure that you perform the five daily Salah and listen to the translation of the Holy Quran. We make Dua Allah Ta’ala keep you steadfast on these practices. Aameen.
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) mentions in a Hadith:
Translation: “Abu Dahmaa (Rahimahullah) mentions, I heard Imran ibn Husayn (Radhiyallahu Anhu) mentioning that he heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, ‘Let him who hears of the Dajjal (Antichrist) go far from him for I swear by Allah that a man will come to him thinking he is a believer and follow him because of confused ideas roused in him by him.” (Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 4319)
From the above Hadith we understand that as far as possible, one should abstain from the Fitnah (mischief) of Dajjal. Furthermore we have been commanded in the Hadith to seek protection from the Fitnah of Dajjal:
Translation: “A'isha (Radhiyallahu Anha) reported that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to make these supplications: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the trial of Jahannam, and from the torment of Jahannam; and from the trial of the grave and torment of the grave; and from the evil of the trial of the affluence and from the evil of the trial of poverty and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of the turmoil of the Dajjal. O Allah, wash away my sins with snow and hail water, purify my heart from the sins as is purified the white garment from the dirt, and keep away at a distance the sins from me as yawns the distance between the East and the West; O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from sloth, from senility, from sin, and from debt.’" (Sahih Muslim Hadith 589)
Keeping the above in mind, we advise you to completely abstain from watching videos pertaining to Dajjal. Rather, focus your complete attention towards Allah Ta’ala and make sincere Dua that Allah protect us all.
Furthermore, we advise you to recite Surah Al-Kahf every Friday as has been mentioned in a Hadith:
Translation:“Abu Darda (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reported Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying, ‘If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.” (Sahih Muslim Hadith 809)
Above all, we advise you to turn to Allah Ta’ala with Dua, Zikr and Salah and beg Allah Ta’ala to turn your mind away from these kind of thoughts.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
