Compensation from delayed flights - Can we accept the compensation?

Question

Compensation

I live in UK and I would like to know if it is permissible to claim and receive compensation on flight delays. For example our flight was delayed for more than 5 hours and solicitors advised we are eligible for compensation that exceeds the initial flight cost twice. The airlines did not respond and solicitors advised they can approach authority of civil aviation.

So my question is: is it halal to receive a compensation that exceeds the initial cost of the service as long as it within the countries in which we live laws.

Regards
