Is it permissible to urinate while standing for men?
Question
My question is that is it permissible to urinate while standing for men whether or not i am able to sit.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is mukrooh to urinate standing up.
However, if one is unable to sit, for example, one has a knee or hip injury or the place to urinate is impure and sitting will cause his clothes or body to become impure, then in such situations, one may stand and urinate.[i]

ويكره أن يبول أو يتغوط في الماء والظل والحجر والطريق وتحت شجرة مثمرة والبول قائما إلا من عذر.
البناية شرح الهداية (1/ 171)
ولهذا قال العلماء يكره البول قائما إلا لعذر وهي كراهة تنزيه لا تحريم.
درر الحكام شرح غرر الأحكام (1/ 49)
يُكْرَهُ )…الْبَوْلُ قَائِمًا إلَّا لِعُذْرٍ) كَذَا فِي التَّتَارْخَانِيَّة.

"ويكره البول قائما" قال في شرح المشكاة قيل النهي للتنزيه وقيل للتحريم وفي البناية قال الطحاوي لا بأس بالبول قائما.
