Fatwa #433785 October 2019United States of America
Correcting mistake outside of ṣalāh
Question
can you correct a person's recitation even if you are not in salah? And could you site your sources please جزاك الله خيرا
Answer
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh
In principle, a person who is out of ṣalāh cannot correct the one in ṣalāh. Therefore, if the musallī’ (the one performing ṣalāh) erred in recitation and is corrected by someone outside of ṣalah, the ṣalāh of the musallī will become invalid if he accepts the correction.[1]
