Tasawwuf

Question

Assalamualykum mufti Sahab, In Tasawwuf, the murshid teaches that a person should eat, sleep, talk, and interact with people less. Unfortunately, I am such a person who loves to eat (especially to ones full), I can’t stop talking (sometimes I say stupid things and realise later) and I also desire a lot of sleep and it’s hard to wake up early in the morning (I pray my fajr though). Do you have any wazifa to help me to follow these principles of tassawuf? Jazak’Allah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

You refer to Tasawwuf and the guide of a Murshid. If one experiences the difficulty referred to in your query, then the Mureed should refer to his Murshid for advice and counsel. Dua alone is not the solution to one’s spiritual weaknesses. When a person is ill, he will consult his doctor and follow his guidance in medication etc. He does not confine himself to Dua. He would adopt all possible means to cure himself and make Dua to Allah to put effect in the means he has adopted. Consult your Murshid and also request his Duas.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
