Doing work from home. Does one have to inform the employer of one moving residence?

Question

Assalaamu Alaikum, A person is employed in a company based in Australia. This company does not require them to work at the company office but allows them to work from home (it is an IT based job). Ever since they have been employed with this company they have not had to come into the office. Now, can this person continue working with this company after moving overseas without informing his employer that he is not longer physically in Australia?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the company hires the person to do a particular type of work and he is not required to come to the office, then it will suffice for him to provide the work irrespective of where he is based.
