Female names starting with Z.
Question
Salams.. I have been searching for a unique girls name beginning with 'z'.. I have found a name on a Muslim names website.. please can you advise on the suitability of the name inshaAllah.. the name is Za'nyah or Zaniah.. Wsalam
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.
Zainab which is spelt as زينب in Arabic is a suitable name for a female which means a fragrant plant and it is also a name of two wives of Rasulullah ﷺ.
Zaniah is not a suitable name for a female.
Alternate female names are;
Zakiyya زكية which means pure.
Zuleikha زليخا which means a beautiful lady.[1]
