Medical Aid and hospital plan
Question
Please advise if there are any halaal medical aid or hospital plan for us in South Africa.
Government facilities are not the best and treatment is not the best
Answer
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Conventional medical aid schemes are not permissible due to three unlawful factors.
a) Interest, b) gambling and c) uncertainty, for more details refer to #30516.
If one is facing a severe medical condition with financial constraint, then he should present his situation to a competent Mufti for a specific ruling[i].
