Was it okay to think that why does a community need another Masjid where there were other Masaajid in the area?

Question

when certain english groups use to say stop building more mosques, i use to agree with them to an extent as i couldnt see why the community needed aother one as there were other mosques in the area.

is this sinful to think like this?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If there is a mosque in an area and that mosque is fulfilling the needs of the people, then that mosque should suffice. Another mosque should not be built in the same area and merely duplicating services unnecessarily.
