Can one wear a tight dress with a cardigan at home?
Question
If only your family are in the house like father sister brother and mother are you allowed to wear a tight dress with a cardigan that reaches your bum and covers the tightness of that dress and the dress is just above your knees and leggings with the dress but your also wearing a scarf which is covering you upto shoulders like is it halal to wear this infront if family only
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Modesty is a branch of faith. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said::[i]
الْحَيَاءُ شُعْبَةٌ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ
Translation:
Modesty (Al-Haya') is a branch of Faith
[Sahih-Muslim 1/63 Darul-Ihyaul-Turath]
We are not in a position to comment on the modesty or otherwise on the specific dress you refer to. However, the dress should be loose and should not reveal the form and shape of the body.
