Fatwa #387922 April 2002United States of America

Do hanafi followers go into sajdah with knees first or hands first? Do they say Ameen aloud after surah Fatiha in each raka? Where do they place their arms when stading.. below navel or above?

Answer

1. When going into Sajda, the knees should be placed on the ground before
the hands. We are not aware of any differences of opinion in this ruling.
2. According to the Hanafi Madhab, it is preferable for the Imaam and the
Muqtadies (followers to say the Ameen softly.
3. According to the Hanafi madhab, it is preferable for a male to place the
hands below the navel.
