Dua to recite when afflicted with fever

Question

Salam,

Can you kindly tell any surah from quran and supplication from hadith which cures high fever?

JazakAllah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We are living in a world of means, cause and effect.

When a person is hungry, he will adopt means to obtain food and eat it to remove the effects of hunger.

Likewise, if one has fever, consult a doctor to determine the cause of the fever and take appropriate medication.

It is our belief that every condition is from Allah Ta’aala. Turn to Allah with making dua to Allah to alleviate one from the high fever.

The following dua is recommended during high fever.

«بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الْكَبِيرِ، أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ، مِنْ شَرِّ عِرْقٍ نَعَّارٍ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَرِّ النَّارِ»

"I seek relief taking Allah's great blessed name from all the evils of pulling (pulsating) nerves and from the evils of the hot fire". [Sunan Ibn Maaja-Vol 4/pg.552][i]
