Can a women take out her niqaab to study medicine?
Question
Assalamualikum ,
I have been wondering if it would be permissible to take of niqab while studying in any medical feild. Specifically for someone who works or wants to pursue a career in ob-gyn, as a doctor, or a nurse.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is not permissible for a woman to expose her face in the presence of non-mahram men unless there is an absolute need which is acceptable in Shari’ah and such a need which cannot be fulfilled without exposing the face[i].
We are living in a time wherein lustful glances and immorality are rampant. Shari’ah emphasises on avoiding all avenues of immorality to the best of one’s ability. The evils and immoralities in colleges, universities and in the professional world are common and well known.
A believer’s focus should be on maintaining his/her Islamic values, morality and chastity over and above everything else.
