Is it Haid or Istihaadha
Question
What is spotting or light bleeding while on the birth control pill considered? Is it haydh? Or will it fall under istihaadha? Or something else? The spotting can be random and sometimes will only happen one time in a day and then there will be no discharge for the rest of the 3 weeks that I am on the pill. If I am fasting on the day this happens will my fast break?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.
The minimum bleeding for haidh is three days. The bleeding of lesser than three days is Istihaadha. [i]
The fast of a woman experiencing istihaadha will be valid. The fast will not break.[ii]
And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.
