Zakat to Islamic school
Question
Assalamualiku wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuihu.
I would like to ask you a quick question.
Can i pay zakath fund to a Modern + Islamic school run by a muslim brother for muslim kids.
The amount may be used as school fees for poor kids. There is no boarding, its just a day school.
Please advise.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In order for us to advise you, enquire from the administration how they would use the zakat funds to pay for the school fees.
Request them for a detailed explanation.
If they have any documentations in that regard, obtain it and send it to us for our observations.
