Fatwa #361425 September 2001Canada

As slamu Alykum, I need Islamic ruling and the way for repentance or etc. in the following case:

Question

Someone (person A) is leaving the country for ever. He asked people if they want to buy some thing, he can get new things on half price. Buyer (person B) can select what ever he wants and the person A will charge his credit card or get instant loan for that stuff and then give it to the person B at half price on cash. In this case where does the person B stands who paid cash to the leaving person knowingly that he (person A) is doing fraud and leaving the country for ever. If person B has bought some thing in this way, what he should do now. Jazakallahu Khairun

Answer

If person As offer is illegal and fraud, then B should reject the offer.

If he accepts such an offer, it will be assisting in sin. If B purchased
anything in this way, he should pay the balance of the amount to the
supplier if it is possible. If that is not possible, he should give the
balance of the amount as Sadaqah and charity to the poor and needy. He must
also make Istighfaar (seek repentance from Allah).

and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best
