How can one fulfil an oath of not committing a sin?

Question

Assaalamualaykum, I know someone who took an oath that every time he committed a specific sin he would give a specific amount of charity. Is there any way out of this?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.

The solution is simple, the person should abstain from that sin.

And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.
