Question

What are the requirements of a women who wishes to make I'tikaaf in her home....can she go to the kitchen to prepare meals etc

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is best for a woman in the state of ietikaaf not to cook food and keep herself secluded to her designated ietikaaf area. However, if she is the only one in the house that cooks the meals and there is no one else to prepare the meals during her ietikaaf period then, it will be permissible for her to prepare the meals.
