Praying salāh in bus
Question
I take bus to commute for work. I find prayer time in bus. Can I pray in the moving bus. If I don't do, I am afraid will miss my prayer and the prayer time will be gone. I don't want to miss my prayer so perform with sign while sitting on the seat. Is this permissable. Pls. advise.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, it is not permissible to perform Fardh salāh while traveling on a conveyance.[1] However, if a person fears that the time of salāh will pass out; he should perform it while on the conveyance and thereafter repeat the salāh.

ولا يصلي المسافر المكتوبة على الدابة إلا في ضرورة فإن المكتوبة في أوقات محصورة لا يشق عليه النزول؛ لأدائها بخلاف التطوع، فإنه ليس مقدر بشيء فلو ألزمناه النزول؛ لأدائها تعذر عليه أداء ما يسقط من التطوعات أو ينقطع سفره. المحيط البرهاني في الفقه النعماني (55/2) دار الكتب العلمية، بيروت –لبنان
قَالَ: (وَلَا يُصَلِّي الْمُسَافِرُ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ عَلَى الدَّابَّةِ مِنْ غَيْرِ عُذْرٍ)؛ لِأَنَّ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي أَوْقَاتٍ مَحْصُورَةٍ فَلَا يَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِ النُّزُولُ لِأَدَائِهَا فِيهَا بِخِلَافِ التَّطَوُّعِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِمُقَدَّرٍ بِشَيْءٍ، فَلَوْ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ النُّزُولَ لِأَدَائِهَا تَعَذَّرَ عَلَيْهِ النُّزُولُ لِأَدَائِهَا، تَعَذَّرَ عَلَيْهِ إذًا مَا يُنَشِّطُهُ فِيهِ مِنْ التَّطَوُّعَاتِ أَوْ يَنْقَطِعُ سَفَرُهُ، المبسوط للسرخسي (250/1) دار المعرفة -بيروت
