Can we recite Durood Akbar, Durood Nariyah

Question

Can we recite Durood Akbar, Durood Nariyah? I mean: where do these durood come from they are not in the hadith books. Please clear my confusion whether or not to recite these duroods. Can you also please give me a short durood that I may recite from authentic hadith.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected brother in Islam

We have not come across Durood Naariyyah and Durood Akbar in any authentic Hadith or other sources.

The best form of durood (duas and salutations) upon Rasulullah Sallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam are those that are recommended by Rasulullah Sallahu Alahy Wa Sallam himself. There are many well established Durood (Salaat and Salaam upon Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasallam), mentioned in the Ahadith.

Hadhrat Sheikh Zakariyyah rahimahullah has compiled 40 Durood from Very Authentic Ahadith, which may be found at: http://veiledgems.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/40_durood_with_meaning__transliteration.pdf.
