Kaffaarah for shaving
Question
i had a beard for almost 8 months but then i shaved without realizing that m doing wrong now i want to know what kufara i have to do ? what should i perform what should i pay etc ???
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
To shave one’s beard is a major sin. Alhamdulillah you have realised that you have done wrong by shaving your beard and you enquire about kaffaarah for that. The kaffaarah is to make sincere tawbah and repent to Allah Ta’aalaa for shaving your beard and disregarding a great sunnah of the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. It is also our advice to perform two raka’aat of salaat al-tawbah for that and make a firm resolve to never repeat that sin. It is also advisable to give some money in sadaqah as sadaqah cools off the anger of Allah Ta’aalaa. It is part of the kaffaarah of shaving the beard that you start keeping the beard again and take pride in this great sunnah of Rasulullah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
