Salaah while travelling

Question

1.In the plane where there is no specefic organisation of praying Salah, can the person merely pray on his seat?

2. While i am in the plane, i am travelling aomewhere, but on mthe way, the plane passes  by my hometown, am i considered muqim then and then will the ruling of muqim apply

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1)     According to our experiences of travelling by plane, passengers are permitted to pray salaat in the plane. However, it is important to make arrangements with the airline representatives so that they can easily facilitate performing salaat. Do consider the representatives also have to fulfil their duties and also abide by airline regulations. It is important to cooperate with them. However, in the scenario that one is unable to get permission to pray or the plane is too small, as is the case in some domestic flights, then one should perform salaat on his seat and then repeat the salaat later on.[1]

2)     In such a situation, it is our advice to wait a few minutes until the plane passes by your hometown. You should thereafter pray qasr.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
