How is Talbeenah made?

Question

I wanted to know about Talbeenah. I searched online and I found two ways to make it. One was made with barley flour, bran, honey and milk. The other was just the barley flour, honey, and milk. What are the right ingredients to make talbeenah?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Talbeenah comes from the word laban (milk)[1]. Talbeenah (تلبينة) is a sweet dish made with barley flour or with bran, and honey can be added for its sweetness[2]. It is called Talbeenah due to its whitishness like milk. This type of food is best for sick people, for this food is very thin and light on the stomach.
