Please tell me the the sunnah length of hair?

Question

and if it is permissable for one to tie the hair back?

Answer

There are three narrations regarding the length of the hair of Rasulullah
(Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam); till the earlobes, till half the earlobes and
till the shoulders. (Shamaail)

It is not permissible for a male to tie his hair at the back as that is the
practise of females.
