Can one perform the Jumu'ah prayer with tayammum?
Question
If on friday prayers one is in such a situation that he can't perform wudu, can he join the salat by performing the tayammum. By situation I mean if one starts performing wudu, the salat will get completed. I he misses the salat what should he do?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In the enquired case, one is not permitted to do tayammum even if one is unable to join the jum’uah salah.[1] The person shall perform wudhu and if jum’uah salah is missed whilst performing wudhu then one shall perform zuhr salah.

[1] (ولا يتيمم للجمعة وإن خاف الفوت لو توضأ فإن أدرك الجمعة صلاها وإلا صلى الظهر أربعا) لأنها تفوت إلى خلف وهو الظهر بخلاف العيد(وكذا إذا خاف فوت الوقت لو توضأ لم يتيمم ويتوضأ ويقضي ما فاته ) لأن الفوات إلى خلف وهو القضاء.

(وإن خاف من شهد الجمعة إن اشتغل بالطهارة) بالماء، ( أن تفوته صلاة الجمعة لم يتيمم) لانها لها خلف، ( ولكنه يتوضأ، فإن أدرك الجمعة صلاها، وإلا) اي لم يدرك الجمعة (صلى الظهر أربعاً )
