Is it permissible to smoke hookah?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is makrooh to smoke hookah. However, if the hookah intoxicates, smoking it will be impermissible.[1]
