Fatwa from imprisoned Ulama

Question

Would it be permissible and can we take fatwa from a scholar who is imprisoned? The scholar issue fatwa while in prison and we receive it, can it be permissible?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the scholar is from Ulema-Haq and he is successful in issuing fatwas while being in prison, then being in prison in not an obstacle in him issuing fatwas and his fatwas being accepted.
