Is it permissible to run a co-ed school?

Question

Is it perssible to open combined School for general education upto year / Grade 5?

Actually my uncle opened a combined scool, Where male and feamle study together. is he going to bear sin associated with the interactions with male and female in that school? Because my concern is, in islam male and female interactions are strict and limited?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Generally, year five students are approximately ten years old and are regarded as minors who are not obliged or answerable for their actions in Shariah. There won’t be any violation of Shariah in establishing a co-ed educational system for minor boys and girls. However, in this age of fitna, minor children are exposed to many immoral things. It is therefore advisable to consider the angle of fitna and close all doors that may lead to fitna.
