Question

Please assist in clarifying the meaning of the name Hamnah (big Ha, Meem, Noon, small Ha/ta). Our knowledge so far is that it is the name of the wife of Mus'ab (r.a.) and the sister-in-law of Huzoor (s.a.w.)

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The name Hamnah ((حَمْنَة refers to a type of small berry that used to some from Ta’if. It was generally black in colour with a leaning towards red.[1]
