Fatwa #2827 August 2000Pakistan

How can we improve as Muslims other than always doing our sala't and memorizing Qur'an? Can you give the do's and don'ts of being a Muslim?

Answer

In order to improve one's life as a Muslim, we advise the following:
i) Associate with pious people (if possible with Allah-Fearing Ulama) and
abstain from people who have no respect for the laws of Allah.
ii) Obtain reliable Islamic literature under the supervision of reliable
Ulama and make a firm intention to practise whatever one learns.
iii) Abstain from committing sin.
iv) If you experience any difficulty in carrying out the above, search for a
spiritual guide and follow his guidance to the best of your ability. The
spiritual guide must be an Allah-Fearing person strictly adhering to Shari'
ah and Sunnah.
