My son left home with a non-Muslim girl he has fallen in love with. How should I get him back?

Question

I have four children. I have a problem with my oldest son. He left our home and family because of a white girl he fell in love with. He is only 21 years old and hasn't even finished his studies. He is spending his student loan on that girl. Please, advise me on how I can get him back.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

We have carefully read through the query and we make du’ā that Allāh ﷻ facilitates the situation. Ameen. Allāh ﷻ has blessed you with being a mother. This is a special status that Allāh ﷻ has granted to you and that naturally comes with many worries and concerns. Allāh ﷻ created a special bond between a mother and her children. It is in view of that close bond that whenever a mother makes du’ā for her children, then that du’ā carries great weight in the court of Allāh ﷻ. As such, our first and foremost advice to you as a mother in a predicament is for you to make special du’ā for your children, that Allāh ﷻ guide them to what is best.

The situation described is one that requires the personal care, attention and supervision of a trustworthy and knowledgeable person from a neighboring area.

We suggest you refer to a local ‘ālim(Scholar) or some person your son has confidence in and discuss the issue with him. Request the Scholar or person to meet your son and advise him.

We hope and make du’ā that your du’ās as a mother coupled with this apparent means to advise your son will be beneficial, Insha-Allāh.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
