Is singing about Islam allowed even if it doesn't involve instruments? What if it only involves a duff (drum)

Answer

Singing about Islam without any musical instruments is permissible.

Present day drums is an integral part of music, therefore, not permissible. Somewhere on this site, seach 'Music' (without quotes)
